Choir raises funds for cancer charity

DECEMBER 5:   Croydon Male Voice Choir staged the first of its two annual Whitgift Centre appearances on Sunday, raising money for the cancer charity SECHC.  The South East Cancer Help Centre, based in Purley, assists cancer patients with advice, support and practical help.

The centre first opened in 1983 and currently helps some 300 cancer patients, among them CMVC bass Peter Smith.

CMVC  appeared at the Whitgift Centre for around six hours, selling its latest CD as well as deploying the charity collecting buckets. It was ably assisted, as last year, by Faye Berry, daughter of top tenor Dave and Julie Berry.

The choir will be making its second appearance at the Whitgift Centre on Sunday December 17, after which its charity collection will be totalled up.  Its next concert is this Saturday - the ever-popular Christmas concert staged with the Croydon Welsh Society at Shirley Methodist Church.  The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are selling fast!
