Della Jones becomes new choir president

Della JonesThe acclaimed Welsh mezzo soprano Della Jones is the new president of Croydon Male Voice Choir.  Della, who was born in south Wales and now lives in south Croydon, said she was "thrilled and honoured" to accept the choir's invitation to become its president. She added: "Coming from South Wales, I have a natural affinity for male voice choirs."

 

Della succeeds retiring president Ozzie Arnold, who has made the reverse journey, moving from Croydon to south Wales, where he is now musical director of Blaenavon's male voice choir.   Croydon chair Kim Ormond said he was delighted that Della had accepted the choir's invitation: "This is an honour for us all."

Della has a massive reputation in the classical world, and is renowned for her interpretations of composers as diverse as  Mozart, Rossini, Handel and Britten. She is widely praised for her affecting performances and technical virtuosity.
