WALKING GROUP KICKS OFF

The CMVCBSWC* held its inaugural meet in the Kentish snow two weeks ago [8 February 2012].    The club's three founder members, bass singers Aussie Jon Evans, Pete Smith and Peter Gillman, embarked on their walk on a chill morning from Shoreham, the picturesque village in the Darenth valley near Sevenoaks.  They made a five-mile circuit, crossing snowcovered hills and fields to Lullingstone Castle, then following the River Darenth back to Shoreham.  There they repaired to the Crown Inn for a warming pint (or two) and lunch beside its open fire.

Pete Smith said the walk was a stroll in the park compared to the 14-mile charity walk he will be undertaking for the Marsden cancer appeal on March 11, when the CVMC will be performing at the finishing line in Sutton.  Aussie Jon recalled that in his home city, Perth, the February temperatures average 30-33 degrees.

The club plans to hold further walks once a month (approx).  Notices will appear here and all choir members are welcome.

Strewth mate, it's cold enough to freeze a dingo's b*ll*cks

Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows.....

How far is it now?
