Choir in the news again!

31 July: Local news site Inside Croydon ran a lengthy report today on the eight CMVC members who have been touring with the Lions rugby team in Australia.

The CMVC eight form part of the official Lions choir and have also been singing their own impromptu sessions in clubs and bars, following the style of the Friday-night BnD back on home turf.

Inside Croydon reported all of this and had several photographs depicting some or all of the CMVC contingent.  The piece was bylined by Peter Gillman but relied heavily on dispatches from veteran tourist Dave Bannister, who was quoted at the end of the piece.

The eight Croydon lads had seats in the second test in Melbourne that were close to the spot where the Lions scored their last-minute try to win the test and clinch the series 2-0 with one match to go.

They will, of course, be at Sydney for the final test before flying back to the UK on Monday.

The choir resumes formal rehearsals on September 11 and sings at Southwark Cathedral on Saturday September 27 (starting at noon). Its first full concert is on October 11 at St John’s, Hurst Green.
