Sam Prouse, CMVC accompanist

Samuel Prouse was born in London, and is a prize-winning postgraduate student of the Royal Academy of Music (Alan Kirby Prize), where he pursued choral conducting and organ studies with Patrick Russill and Paul Brough. During this time, Samuel held organist posts at St Marylebone Parish Church and Westminster Abbey.

While still a student, Samuel became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, winning prizes for the highest marks in the practical examination, and the Dixon Prize for Improvisation. He has given solo recitals at Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, St Paul's Cathedral and York Minster, as well as concert performances in France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Malta and St John's, Smith Square in London.

​Samuel was Head Chorister at St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Suffolk, and read Music at Royal Holloway College, University of London, where he was also Organ Scholar. He is a keen composer, and has had his choral compositions performed by the BBC Singers, the London Symphony Chorus and Siglo de Oro.

Samuel has appeared as an accompanist, composer and conductor on a number of recordings for labels such as Delphian Records, Naxos, Signum and Regent Records. He has also performed on radio broadcasts in the UK and on Radio France Culture.  He previously accompanied the CMVC on an occasional basis, and became the full-time accompanist in September 2022.
