SURREY SUMMER DELIGHT
A select group of five members enjoyed a delightful high-summer walk on August 6, starting and ending in South Godstone and savouring the fields, woodland and landscape of the Surrey weald in between. The five departed from the Fox & Hounds at 10.45 and ended there three hours later. Some parts of the route required path-clearance to remove brambles and nettles, and there was a steep uphill section to reach the Greensands Way which runs along the crest of the downs east of Bletchingley.
The walk was conducted at the customary relaxed pace, with ample stops to savour the views. Lunch at the Fox & Hounds proved to come in generous portions and the Greene King beer was particularly appreciated. The five walkers were Peter Gillman, Jon Evans and Barry O'Gorman (basses), Dick Jones and Trevor Watkins (second tenors). There were no top tenors or baritones.

WALKING GROUP MAKES RECORD RETURN
The CMVC walking group marked its return to action with a record eight members taking part in a circular walk in Surrey on July 2 2013, starting and ending at Chelsham Common.

The four-mile walk, under a cloudy sky, took the group through a mix of woodland and open fields. In a number of places, where the footpaths were overgrown, the walkers had to establish the route. There were also numerous stiles to surmount.
MAGNIFICENT SEVEN WALK AGAIN
The Choir walking group turned out again on Tuesday, August 28, with seven members undertaking a five-mile circular walk on to the North Downs from Woldingham. The group continued its run of good luck with the weather, enjoying both blue skies and spectacular views into the Weald land beyond the North Downs.

WALKING GROUP KICKS OFF
The CMVCBSWC* held its inaugural meet in the Kentish snow two weeks ago [8 February 2012]. The club's three founder members, bass singers Aussie Jon Evans, Pete Smith and Peter Gillman, embarked on their walk on a chill morning from Shoreham, the picturesque village in the Darenth valley near Sevenoaks. They made a five-mile circuit, crossing snowcovered hills and fields to Lullingstone Castle, then following the River Darenth back to Shoreham. There they repaired to the Crown Inn for a warming pint (or two) and lunch beside its open fire.
