Choir returns to stage

AUGUST 25: The choir staged a triumphant return to live performances with an appearance at the Oval Tavern, East Croydon, on Sunday that wowed the audience and delighted choir members, who were thrilled to be back singing together in public at last.

Choir sings at Weatherill memorial

AUGUST 1: CMVC sang at the memorial service of Bernard Weatherill QC in Wimbledon on Friday July 30. At a packed St Mary’s Church, it performed two pieces: Be Still My Soul, the Hymn from Finlandia by Sibelius; and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, with the solo part by choir baritone Stewart Robinson.

Coronavirus: Up and singing again!

MAY 23 2021: The Croydon choir is back!  After poring over government regulations, conducting a rigorous risk assessment and carefully studying the local weather forecast, no fewer than 28 choristers gathered at Sandilands for a sing on Saturday morning.

Coronavirus 2021

JANUARY 24 2021: Sadly, there is no prospect of the choir resuming performances any time soon.  However, we have been active both in and out of the remote rehearsal room.  We have been conducting online sectional rehearsals, via Zoom, almost since since Covid struck.  We have been adding new pieces to our repertoire and have been singing with our customary gusto.  Outside, the choir walking group continued with its outings for as long as permitted, as did the Beer and Ditties team.
