Plaudits at two concerts
November 4: Croydon Male Voice Choir has performed two outstanding concerts in the past three weeks, winning plaudits from its hosts and audiences alike.
The first concert, on 11 October, was held at St John’s, Hurst Green. It was hosted before a packed audience by the Friends of St Catherine’s Hospice and introduced by Linda Henson, Senior Nurse Practitioner at the hospice in Pease Pottage, who spoke of the vital support it offers people with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.

Iain addresses choir
4 October: Iain Muir-Nelson, the CMVC bass who has contracted Motor Neurone Disease, came to rehearsal on Thursday to deliver a passionate and moving address to the choir. Iain updated members on the progress of his illness and thanked them for their support in a very testing time.

Triumphs all round
30 September Dave Bannister writes: CMVC anticipated the triumphs of England’s rugby World Cup women and local footie team Crystal Palace’s last minute heroics against Liverpool with a wonderful lunchtime concert in a packed Southwark Cathedral on Saturday, 27 September.

31 July: Local news site Inside Croydon ran a lengthy report today on the eight CMVC members who have been touring with the Lions rugby team in Australia.

Choir celebrates its first 50 years
July 14: The choir produced a brilliant 50th anniversary concert at St Mildred’s church, Addiscombe, on Saturday. The 200-plus audience included CMVC’s first four music directors, guests at the concert, who stood as one to applaud the choir’s final number, Hallelujah Chorus.

A tale of two choirs
June 10: The choir staged a wonderful concert with its friends from the Croydon Philharmonic Choir at Croydon Minster on Saturday. The choirs sang two sets each and then combined for a thrilling finale: African Prayer, conducted by CMVC music director Andrew Moore, followed by the Hallelujah Chorus, conducted by CPC music director David Gibson.
